Congratulations to Alyssa Benson for winning the "Herbert Heller Essay Contest!" Every year, juniors write an essay over any U.S. History topic of their choice. Alyssa wrote an amazing essay and won the $300 prize! Mrs. Faust, US History teacher, presented the award.

Our Trojan athletes met with our partners of the American Legion Saturday morning to decorate the South Mound Cemetery. Today we honor our Veterans. Happy Memorial Day Weekend, New Castle. Thank you for your service. Go, USA!

Congratulations to Freshman Annie Joplin for entering her art in the The International Violin Competition. She has won the Regional Award, and her art will hang in the Rhythm! Discovery Center, Indiana History Center, Hilbert Circle Theatre, and other Indianapolis Symphony Venues. Miss Joplin proudly represented NCHS!

J-Day 2026 proved excellent yet again at Ball State University. Students attended their choice of three classes, and toured the Journalism department at the College of Communication Information and Media! Chirp-Chirp!

Congratulations to our academic teams! NCHS really shined at the area meet in Richmond last night. The Fine arts team guided by Gage Butcher earned fourth place. The Math team starring Aubrey Lapp and Sammy Huynh achieved third place. The science team piloted by underclassmen won second place. With the Social Studies team led by the Hood twins and the English team choreographed by Caedmon Ward both won first place! NC really stood out last night, and we will be watching for state placement this week! Thank you to all the students that showed up and our awesome coaches. It was a great year for our academic teams!

60+ High School Environmental Science students will be presenting their final projects at the Cool Climate Festival! Join us Saturday, May 2 from 11:00-3:00 at the Arts Park. We also have food, entertainment, vendors, kids' games, face painting, and door prizes!
