Señora Sorrell and her 2nd Year Spanish students read about every-day heroes in their textbook. Their discussion led to an all-out project in which they decided to also honor their special heroes! Now, our local grandparents, parents, sisters, and brothers know how much they are appreciated in dual languages. Muy bien, estudiantes; tus familias estarán orgullosas. (Very good, students; your families will be proud.)

NCHS teachers Harley Walls and Noah Brown took a group of AGventure girls (future FFA girls) to Fort Wayne for Purdue's "ENGAGE Young Ladies in Ag" Conference! It was great to see our girls networking and connecting with other outstanding young ladies from all over the state. There they learned about employability skills, resume building, interviewing, career readiness, college scholarships, FFA, and more! It was an excellent time and the girls are not only excited to have our FFA officially chartered soon, but also to attend next year.

The New Castle High School Color Guard has made Corporation history! For the first time since it's debut in 1982, the Color Guard has won First Place at a Color Guard Competition! The students, under the direction of Sonja Rupe, Technology Secretary, and new Choreographer, Joshua Fullerton, have broken new ground and confidence with their show, "Full Circle." The music of Ludovico Einaudi was chosen for this year's theme, and the lyrical piano piece takes the audience through three and a half minutes of emotional body work, and demanding flag, saber, and rifle routines. Rupe lovingly teared up as she spoke of her team, "All I've ever wanted is these kids to be successful. In this glorious moment, the color guard community finally got to see what I've witnessed for years!" A few of the students have competed since fourth grade, getting their start weekly at Parker gymnasium in the Elementary Guard program. Rupe has watched them grow in skill and precision as they moved into high school. We're proud of these students and the dedication they have given to this extracurricular activity; they have continuously competed with elegance, good sportsmanship, and determination. Representing our Corporation and NCHS well on their competition journey, these guard members have our appreciation. We share in the joy. Congratulations to the Band Department on this remarkable breakthrough. Keep up the great work, NCCG!
