NCCSC Administration and Staff at the Sunnyside Education Center

The inaugural Community Connections Luncheon, which took place on February 20th at the Sunnyside Education Center (formerly Sunnyside Elementary School), was a resounding success! Over 60 local businesses and organizations participated in this special event. We celebrated the achievements facilitated by our School Improvement Grant and emphasized the importance of fostering strong community partnerships, which offer exceptional opportunities for students to Explore, Engage, and Experience both academically and professionally.

During the luncheon, attendees were presented with various ways to engage through our Community Connections Menu, including career talks, office/factory tours, mentoring, curriculum donations, and internships. We also shared the outcomes of our first-semester internship program, which saw 16 interns placed across a range of fields and organizations, including the Ball State Marketing Department, New Castle College and Careers, Guyer Opera House, New Castle Athletics, Henry Community Health (HCH), The Waters, Duty Calls Plumbing, Solid Waste Management, Triple J Plumbing & Utilities, Ball State Sales Center, Ivy Tech New Castle, and HC-Rips.

These internships went beyond mere work experience for these young people; they represented businesses and organizations investing in and shaping the future workforce. We extend an invitation to everyone interested in supporting our students to join us.
