Leader in Me Student Lighthouse Team
Parker Elementary is a Leader in Me school focused on developing leaders in the areas of leadership, culture, and academics. The Leader in Me approach is built on the framework of highly effective practices and habits originally developed by Steven Covey. The Seven Habits teach students how to Be Proactive, Begin with the End in Mind, Put First Things First, Think Win-Win, Seek First to Understand, Synergize, Sharpen the Saw.
As a part of the Leader in Me approach, students had the opportunity to express interest in becoming a member of the Student Lighthouse Team. Several students recently completed and submitted applications to express interest in joining the team in January. This group participated in interviews, answered challenging questions, and shared how Leader in Me positively impacted their lives by giving them a voice. Already the school culture has positively shifted, empowering students in leadership, social and emotional reasoning, and academics.
