Principal’s Message
Dear Westwood Families,
As a lifelong resident of New Castle, I take great pride in serving the students and families of our community. When I began my journey at Westwood, I was determined to identify a phrase which would set Westwood apart. In my search for inspiration, I came across the children’s book We’re All Wonders by R.J. Palacio. The book suggests each of us are wonders in our own way and if we look with a lens of kindness we will see it all around. With this idea, the Westwood motto was born and now each day I share with the students to “Work hard. Be kind. We are all Wonders of Westwood.” My hope is that with this reminder, the culture of our school will grow into one of togetherness built through confidence in and the courage to remain true to oneself.
Here at Westwood we offer a variety of ways for students to explore their interests and be part of groups and/or clubs which promote further development and growth. We also place a high value on our partnership with parents, families, and community and invite you to be an active part of helping students achieve their full potential.
I consider it a privilege to work alongside all stakeholders in our Westwood family and look forward to each day with the Wonders of Westwood.
Sincerely,
Kelley Cox
