Greetings Trojan Families and Friends,
I am truly honored to be your Superintendent of Schools! The end of September marks my one year anniversary and over the past year, I have had the privilege of attending numerous outstanding community and school events. I’ve had the wonderful opportunity of meeting new people and making new friends. It is abundantly clear that New Castle is a great place to learn and grow with rich traditions and a promising future. In fact we have aptly embraced the slogan, New Castle Schools: Built on Tradition, Focused on the Future. New Castle is home to outstanding and dedicated teachers as well as exemplary academic, performing arts, athletic, and career & technical programs. We take great pride in our blended learning classrooms where we have a 1:1 computer to student ratio for our students.
With the lowest student to teacher ratio in the area, our six elementary schools provide a personalized experience where teachers differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students. Our Middle School offers the opportunity to take several honors and high school courses. Additionally, our Middle and High School students have over 50 clubs, performing arts, and athletic teams to join. New Castle High School has an impressive 95.6% graduation rate and our renowned Career Center is among the finest in the country. Many of our high school students graduate not only with a high school diploma but thanks to the generous college level course offerings (16 Advanced Placement (AP) courses and 22 Dual Credit courses all offered on site), many students graduate New Castle High School with numerous college credits and some students obtain the equivalent of a 2 year associate’s degree fully paid for – saving families tens of thousands of dollars!
To serve you better, we now have a newly redesigned website, a new Facebook page, and numerous other exciting new initiatives. Our goal is to continuously improve our programs and practices to optimally serve our students, families and community. We have worked hard over the past year to open schools earlier, move Kindergarten students back to home schools, and develop programs that will help expand outcomes and opportunities for our students Our Long Term Planning Task Force (LTPTF) has met several times since April and you are encouraged to attend these very important LTPTF meetings.
New Castle is a community of great people, distinguished alumni, world class leaders, and rich traditions. I encourage you to become involved in our schools to pass on these esteemed qualities of the Trojan Legacy to future generations, and to see first hand why “New Castle Schools is Your Best Choice”!
