Superintendent’s Message

Dr. Matt Shoemaker

Greetings Trojan Families and Friends,

I am truly honored to be your Superintendent of Schools!  Over the past few years, I have had the privilege of attending and participating in countless outstanding community and school events and I have had the honor of meeting many new friends. It is abundantly clear that New Castle is a great place to learn and grow with rich traditions and a promising future. In fact we have aptly embraced the slogan, New Castle Schools: Built on Tradition, Focused on the Future. New Castle is home to outstanding and dedicated teachers as well as exemplary academic, performing arts, athletic, and  career & technical programs. We take great pride in our blended learning classrooms where we have a 1:1 computer to student ratio for our students.

With the lowest student to teacher ratio in the area, our six elementary schools provide a personalized experience where teachers differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students. Our Middle School offers the opportunity to take several honors and high school courses. Additionally, our Middle and High School students have over 50 clubs, performing arts, and athletic teams to join. Our renowned Career Center is among the finest in the country and serves 8 different corporations. Many of our high school students graduate not only with a high school diploma but thanks to the generous college level course offerings (16 Advanced Placement (AP) courses and 21 Dual Credit courses all offered on site), many students graduate New Castle High School with numerous college credits and some students obtain the equivalent of a 2 year associate’s degree fully paid for – saving families tens of thousands of dollars!

We have been working hard to improve the safety, and atmosphere of our learning and open spaces to better serve the needs of our students. We now have secured entrances at Wilbur Wright, Eastwood and Parker Elementary Schools and a new outstanding weight room at our high school. Currently, we are in the midst of exciting renovations including our new state of the art Middle School, new expanded tennis courts, and baseball field renovation. The fall of 2022, we will eagerly introduce 6th grade students for the first time to our Middle School allowing our 6th graders expanded curricular and extra curricular opportunities and opening up space in our elementary schools for PreK expansion. Our vast renovation work does not stop there. This coming spring, we will renovate Bundy Auditorium, our girl’s softball field, and will replace the doors in our beloved Fieldhouse. In the past few months we have received over a million dollars from generous community members to partner in our endeavor to provide a world class experience to our students.

New Castle is a community of great people, distinguished alumni, world class leaders, and rich traditions. I encourage you to watch our new video to learn more about what we offer our students and become involved in our schools to pass on these esteemed qualities of the Trojan Legacy to future generations, and to see first hand why “New Castle Schools is Your Best Choice”!

Go Trojans!
