After growing up  in New Castle, I attended Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tn. where I graduated with a degree in elementary education and an MA in School Counseling. I came back home to Indiana in 1991 to continue my education career, and began working for New Castle Schools in 2006 where I have been a counselor ever since.

I am motivated by my desire to help students realize and pursue successful and rewarding pathways for themselves in professional, academic, and personal endeavors.

I am married to my husband, Jack, and have a daughter, Allison, who recently married Braxton Crow and they live and work in Fairfax, Virginia. I am anxiously awaiting grandchildren!

Mr. Todd Conklin
School Counselor

I began working as a School Counselor at NCHS in January, 2023. My prior experience working in Indiana public schools consist of six years as a high school guidance counselor and nine years teaching middle school math. During my years working in public education, I have been fortunate to coach boys’ basketball at the high school and middle school level for 17 years.

In my daily work as a counselor, I really enjoy meeting with and working with students individually to help them achieve their academic goals and pursue their future career plans. I am very thankful for the wonderful students and staff members I get to work with each school day!

Miss Mercy Jumbo
School Counselor
Last Names: N-Z

I am a proud New Castle High School graduate and Anderson University Alum. I started working for New Castle Schools in 2021 as the Graduation Coach for the high school and I transferred into the role of School Counselor in 2023.

I have always had a calling and interest in supporting, counseling, and caring for others, and I particularly love working with children and teens. I find it extremely rewarding that as a school corporation, we can come together and guide students to help them become all they have been created to be. My goal is to assist students with developing the skills and tools they need to become positive members of society that in return, give back to their community. Being able to see students grow and reach their goals over the years has been the biggest reward for me.

I am grateful that I can work alongside students and their families, in aiding them in their child’s academic and future success. At the end of the day, I want every student to know that they are cared for and have a unique purpose for their life.

Mrs. Tammy Champion

As the Registrar I began in the counseling office in September 2004. I began my career with New Castle Schools in July 1996 in the Technology Office as the Internet Network Manager.  I have always enjoyed technology and data.  In July 1998 I became the student records support person and that entailed training support staff in all the buildings and state reporting.  When the position became available in the counseling office, this was an easy transition from the student records support position.  As the Registrar, I’m able to provide support for parents, students, teachers, and outside agencies.  It’s rewarding to provide the help for students/parents on their educational journey and move on to the next phase of the education process.
