Social Studies

With a wealth of experience and a true passion for their subjects, our dynamic and highly-qualified social studies teachers strive each day to deliver meaningful and relevant knowledge and critical thinking skills to our students. Through a variety of learning opportunities, including effective use of technology and immersion in real-world experiences, we help our students to become well-informed and actively engaged participants in our democracy. NCHS social studies students are provided with abundant opportunities to develop a deep and lasting appreciation of the human experience—past, present, and future.

The social studies department offers a wide variety of classes to meet the various needs and interests of students. Courses include Current Problems, Economics, Ethnic Studies, Geography and History of the World, Indiana Studies, Law Education, Psychology, Sociology, United States Government, United States History, and World History. NCHS also offers Advanced Placement (AP™) courses in Human Geography, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Psychology, United States Government and Politics, and United States History. We also partner with Ball State University, Indiana University, and Ivy Tech Community College to offer multiple dual credit courses.
