Principal’s Message

Welcome New Castle Families:

We have had an exciting fall and early winter here at New Castle High School!  Students are thriving in a variety of areas such as AP and Dual Credit Courses, Career Center programs, Fine Arts, and on the Athletic fields and courts.  Our goal is to have all of our students achieve excellence and take advantage of the many opportunities available at NCHS.  New Castle High School offers a small school environment with large school programs and offerings – it is truly a special place with great tradition, and a strong focus on the future!

We are very proud of our accomplishments and like to celebrate accordingly.  For example, NCHS had a wonderful convocation on November 16th to honor two teachers, Ron Grimes and Bill Wesseler, for their 50 years of teaching!  The program was titled “Celebrating Our People” and the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Dr. Jennifer McCormick, attended and spoke about her experiences as a student in New Castle Schools and praised these fine men for their years of dedication to our community.   Our superintendent, Dr. Matthew Shoemaker, presented these teachers with “The Distinguished Hoosier” award on behalf of Governor Holcomb.  This is a prestigious award given to those individuals who distinguish themselves through significant contributions to their communities, whose qualities and characteristics reflect the best of our State, and whose actions endear them in the hearts and minds of all Hoosiers.  Mr. Grimes and Mr. Wesseler have certainly met these criteria!  This program represented the positive culture of high achievement that exists at New Castle High School!

New Castle athletics definitely made their mark during the fall season!  Annie Gillock was our first girls’ golf state finalist since 2001 and our volleyball team repeated as State Champions in class 3A!  These accomplishments were also recognized during our “Celebrating Our People” Rally on November 16th.  Trojan pride in athletics is alive and well!

We hope everyone has a great holiday season!  Feel free to explore our updated website for the many exciting happenings at NCHS and in all of the New Castle Community Schools!
