Our mission statement reads as follows:
THE ENTIRE SUNNYSIDE ELEMENTARY STAFF PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES TO MEET INDIVIDUAL NEEDS OF ALL STUDENTS IN THE AREAS OF ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT, SOCIAL INTERACTION, AND EMOTIONAL GROWTH IN A POSITIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT. A SPIRIT OF COOPERATION BETWEEN HOME AND SCHOOL MAXIMIZES THE POTENTIAL OF INDEPENDENT, MOTIVATED, LIFELONG LEARNERS.
Each school year at Open House our principal, Mrs. Kinnett, reads this poem to Sunnyside parents. It symbolizes the student-oriented philosophy of our school:
