Area Career Center Assistant Director

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The AD is responsible for communications with and between home school counselors, students, and career center teachers.  The AD provides and presents career program and career planning information to sending schools at all grade levels. The AD coordinates and assists teachers and students with dual credit, certifications, testing, and career program related scholarships, as well as postsecondary education and employment opportunities.  The AD coordinates student and program recognition and promotion information, including the NCCC webpage and media. The AD will assist students as needed to be successful in career programs.  The AD will assume responsibilities and duties of the Director should they be absent or unavailable.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Postsecondary degree
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Complete criminal history check

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Not Required)

State DOE CTE Directors License
Counseling Experience

PAY AND BENEFITS:

Commensurate with education level and experience related to career and technical education.

198 days: 183 day school year, 10 days prior to school starting, and 5 days after last teacher day.

Be sure to include any required credentials as noted on the application form.  Completed applications are held in our active file for a period of 18 months from date of receipt.  If a vacancy exists in your teaching area(s), interviews are requested only after your completed application is in our active file.

Important note:

Per IC 20-28-5-3(c), beginning July 1, 2007, applicants who receive an “initial” teacher’s license must have successfully completed training in:

  • cardiopulmonary resuscitation that includes a test demonstration on a mannequin,
  • removing a foreign body causing an obstruction in an airway, and the Heimlich Maneuver; and,
  • hold a valid certification in each of these procedures from either the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
